I am Martin and I am based in Berlin, Germany.

I started photography in a darkroom during a high school exchange in California. And then my route took me through law studies, private equity, and a venture. None of which are listed under ‘Prerequisites for Photography’.

But there is a thread: I’ve always been drawn to observing what’s actually happening rather than what appears to be happening, diving underneath the surface. Whether that’s the economics of an industry, the mechanics of human attention, or finding something striking in the trivial. The camera just turned out to be a sharp tool for that.

I also believe that humor is an underrepresented minority in art and photography.

That’s why I am trying to combine humor with lens-based observations of humans in their natural habitat.

If you want to get in touch, write me at martin at m4rtin.com.

I am also curating the paintings of my grandfather. You can find them at https://wernerhoffmann.org/

To complete the family art album I am collecting the images of my border collie as Unsolicited Enthusiasm.
